The challenge
To punctuate the evenings of its two-day conference, PACCAR wanted to give guests two very distinct gala dinner experiences. The challenge was to deliver dual events with individual themes that would not only interest the ‘blokes’ but knock their socks off.
The solution
The key to success was to really understand what themes would resonate with the audience. The 2015 Rugby Spring Tour was in Paris. So we brought Paris to Melbourne. The experience started with roaming accordion players – from accommodation to bus and all the way into the grand dinner venue. Under an extravagant dome, guests enjoyed entertainment from CanCan dancers and a string band. Through venue, décor and delicacies, the gala event transported the ‘blokes’ direct to Paris circa 1890s.
Forming the climactic celebration of the two-day conference, we gave the guests a ‘heart and soul’ experience of Melbourne. Buskers, bars, food trucks, graffiti, projection art and sport were incorporated into the exclusive underground basement venue, capturing the essence of Melbourne’s famous laneways.
